In this lesson, you’ll learn how to ask clear and correct questions in English using common question words and structure.

🎯 The Rule

  • Use a question word (What, Where, How, etc.)
  • Add an auxiliary verb (do, does, did, can, will)
  • Use subject + main verb

Structure: Question word → Auxiliary → Subject → Main verb

Example: How much money do you need?

How questions:

    • How many times have been to the United States?
    • How much time is left?
    • How long did you stay on vacation?
    • How old are you?
    • How far is downtown?

What / Which:

    • What do you call this in English?
    • What are you going to do this evening?
    • Which restaurants do you like?

Who / Yes–No:

    • Who did you go with?
    • Do you often eat tamales?
    • Is she working now?
    • Don’t you like these tacos?

  • How much → uncountable nouns (money, time)
  • How many → countable nouns (friends, books)
  • Which → limited choices
  • What → general questions, information
  • Who → people
  • Where → place
  • When → time, date
  • Why → reason
