In English, we use adverbs of frequency to talk about how often we do something. These words help us describe our daily routines and habits.

🧠 What Are Adverbs of Frequency?

They tell us how often something happens.

Examples:

  • I always drink coffee in the morning.
  • She never eats meat.
  • We sometimes watch TV at night.

📌 Placement of Adverbs of Frequency

1️⃣ With Most Verbs (Simple Present)

👉 Put the adverb before the main verb.

Structure:
Subject + adverb + verb

Examples:

  • I always wake up at 7.
  • She usually studies at night.
  • They often play soccer.
  • We never eat fast food.

2️⃣ With the Verb BE (am / is / are)

👉 Put the adverb after BE.

Structure:
Subject + be + adverb

Examples:

  • I’m always tired. (I am always tired.)
  • She’s usually late. (She is usually late.)
  • They’re often happy. (They are often happy.)
  • He’s never angry. (He is never angry.)

⭐ Special Rule: SOMETIMES

👉 “Sometimes” is flexible!

✅ 1. At the beginning:

Sometimes, I walk to work.

Sometimes, she calls me.

✅ 2. Before the main verb:

I sometimes walk to work.

She sometimes calls me.

✅ 3. At the end (less common but possible):

I go to the gym sometimes.

We eat out sometimes.
