April 2026   Volume 1, Issue 3

Teacher Update – Upcoming Evaluation

I’m putting teacher evaluations on hold until next month. Lately, I’ve been busy updating the website, adding new features, and creating our Five-Minute English lessons.

When evaluations resume, you’ll be able to select which class for your evaluation. I’ll provide detailed instructions on how to record your class, and before you begin, you’ll receive the teacher evaluation form so you know exactly what to look for.

📌 On the left (or if you’re on a mobile phone above), is an image sample that will appear in a Facebook carousel post later this month promoting the Five-Minute English lessons.

Quick Note About Class Payments

Just a heads-up: you get paid for the classes you teach. If a class doesn’t have any students show up, reschedule it so you can still receive your payment. The same goes for private classes—rescheduling is the easiest way to make sure you get paid.

If you’re ever unsure or need a hand with rescheduling, just reach out—I’m happy to help!

Important Dates in April and May

  • April 30 – Children’s Day (Día del Niño – some regions)
Celebrated in some areas, but officially nationally celebrated on April 30. Sometimes observed differently.
  • May 1 – Día del Trabajo (Labor Day) – No classes
A public holiday honoring workers. Most businesses and schools are closed.
  • May 5 – Cinco de Mayo
Celebrates the Battle of Puebla (1862) against French forces. Not a federal public holiday, but widely celebrated with parades, events, and cultural activities, especially in Puebla. It’s a big event in Denver, CO.
  • May 10 – Día de las Madres (Mother’s Day)
A very popular celebration in Mexico, honoring mothers. Not an official public holiday, but many schools and workplaces recognize it with gifts, flowers, and family gatherings. Mother’s Day is mainly observed by Christians in Nigeria on “Mothering Sunday,” celebrated on the 4th Sunday of Lent
  • May 15 – Día del Maestro (Teacher’s Day)
A day to honor teachers. Some schools hold ceremonies, and students may give small gifts.
  • Sunday, May 24th at 10:00 a.m.
    Sunday Brunch at Holiday Inn

Mark your calendars and get ready for a great brunch!

Details:

  • Date: Sunday, May 24th
  • Time: 10:00 a.m.

Contribute to “5-Minute English” ✏️

I’m looking for teachers to share short, practical tips that help students use English quickly and confidently. Your ideas matter—and you’ll be paid for your time and input. Make a difference in just a few minutes!

A 5-Minute English lesson should focus on one small topic that students can quickly learn and apply. This could include:

  • A common grammar point
  • A useful expression or phrase
  • A pronunciation tip
  • A common mistake Spanish speakers make in English
  • A quick strategy to sound more natural

The goal is to provide students with short, clear explanations and practical examples they can immediately use in real conversations.

If you have an idea for a 5-Minute English topic, please feel free to share it. Your contributions help us create more useful, relevant, and engaging learning resources for our students.

5-Minute English lessons are available to everyone completely free of charge, with no registration required. Please feel free to share them with your students, friends, and anyone who may benefit improving their English.

5-Minute English Update

A search box has been added to the 5-Minute English lessons to make finding content even easier. You can now quickly look up topics, lessons, or keywords and access the information you need in seconds. This update is designed to improve navigation and help students learn more efficiently.
